Bear Hugs

Jazz Bear with the Utah Jazz Bear

Fulfilling Spencer's second wish.

Our Beginnings: Jazz Bear was one of Spencer's close buddies and his hero.

During Spencer's Illness, he became friends with the NBA's Utah Jazz mascot. Just before the Christmas after Spencer's death, Jazz Bear contacted Spencer's family and asked if he could come to Price to preside over a holiday party for one-hundred children from the Carbon and Emery areas in Spencer's Honor.

This event was called Bear Hugs for Spencer and had only one requirement. The first year Bear would raise the money through donations for the party, but asked that thereafter the funding for the party be raised by us. Bear committed to come to Price each year to host the children's party. The cost of the party is approximately one-hundred dollars per child. We focus on children who are "at risk", whether it be a financial, medical, emotional struggle, death in the family, etc. to invite to the event.
